The Citizen Campaign for Peace and Sustainable Development (La Campagne Citoyenne pour la Paix et et le Développement Durable, CCPDD) expresses its deep concern over the flagrant abuses that are taking place in the Highlands of Fizi Mwenga and Uvira in the Democratic Republic of Congo
The CCPDD condemns the partisan attitude observed during the week from December 9 to 15, 2019, of FARDC elements who fight alongside the May-May negative forces.
The CCPDD denounces the clandestine alliance between Mai-Mai and FARDC in order to facilitate the Mai-Mai to operate in FARDC uniform and to supply them with weapons and ammunition.
The CCPDD denounces the flagrant rapes and the illegal detention of Banyamulenge women in the military camp located in Kabingo.
The CCPDD denounces and condemns the arbitrary arrests, torture and interrogation and other abuses committed against Banyamulenge civilians.
The CCPDD welcomes the intervention of the Police and MONUSCO to release the raped and arbitrarily detained women in the military camps in Minembwe.
The CCPDD calls on the competent authorities to examine the rape case in order to arrest and bring to justice the perpetrators of these crimes.
The CCPDD therefore draws the attention of the international community and human rights organizations to monitor these human rights violations closely.
